The Water

We enjoy and protect our rivers, tidal creeks, and marshlands.

Helping Our Working Waterfront Flourish

In McClellanville, we enjoy and protect our rivers, tidal creeks, and marshlands as something more than beautiful landscapes, wind-swept shores, and rolling seas. McClellanville waters are the lifeblood of families and the working watermen of our community. The Town of McClellanville is unique. It has been recognized as more reliant on commercial fishing than any other town or city on the east coast from Wilmington, NC to Key West, FL (NOAA Fisheries (fisheries.noaa.gov, August 2021)).

The McClellanville Community Foundation understands the importance of preserving the working waterfront to ensure the social, economic, and overall well-being of McClellanville. We are a town whose way of life is deeply shaped by the tide and sea.
