About The Project

Revitalizing a Landmark for the Whole Community

In the heart of town on Pinckney Street stands the former McClellanville School, a property with deep historical significance for our town. The site includes two buildings listed on the National Historic Register, each an important part of our shared story. Now, we have the opportunity to give this space a new chapter—one that brings the entire community together.

The Town of McClellanville, with the assistance of the McClellanville Community Foundation, is working to transform the Gymnasium building into a vibrant, inclusive Community Center. The vision includes restoring the original wooden basketball court, creating flexible event and meeting spaces, and offering classes, workshops, and programs for all ages.

This project is about more than preserving a building—it’s about creating a welcoming place where neighbors connect, ideas grow, and memories are made. Together, we can turn this historic landmark into a space that serves and inspires our community for generations to come.
